BAGEL BREAKFAST
Saturday, September 23rd , please join us in Monsignor Reinbold Hall at 9 am (after the 8 am Mass) for a bagel breakfast and two special guest speakers from Hope Sheds Light. Hope Sheds Light provides peer support and help to people throughout Ocean and Monmouth Counties with family support groups, 12-Step meetings, grief groups, and self-care programs. CELEBRATION OF MASS
Monday, September 25th, at 7:00 pm, there will be a Rosary, followed by a special Mass at 7:30 pm, to pray for those who suffer from any form of addiction, as well as their families and friends. This will be held in St Mary’s Barnegat Church.
The annual Blessing of Animals will take place on Sunday, October 1, after the 11:30am at St. Mary of the Pines. We will gather around the Knights Bell Tower and blessings will continue until 1:00pm.
OCTOBER IS RESPECT LIFE MONTH!
- BABY ITEM COLLECTION after all Masses the weekend of October 1. New and gently used baby items are welcome.

The Pantry’s Getting Bare!
Like everything else in the world, St Vincent de Paul has hit hard times. The NJ Food Bank, our biggest supplier, has reduced the variety and amounts of food we receive. Produce donations from local supermarkets have declined. Can you help? Thank you for your generosity— we can’t do this without you.
Pantry needs: LOTS of pancake mix and syrup, large bottles of juice, chicken noodle soup, canned ravioli, kids’ cereals and snacks.
CELEBRATE WITH US!
The first recorded perpetual adoration was in Avignon in 1226. On Sept. 11, King Louis VII asked to expose the Blessed Sacrament as a way to celebrate victory over the Albigensians, a sect that flourished in southern France in the 12th and 13th centuries. “In thanksgiving, the Blessed Sacrament covered with a veil was exposed in the Chapel of the Holy Cross” in Orleans, reads the encyclopedia. Faced with the large number of people who came to adore Jesus in the Eucharist, Bishop Pierre de Corbie “deemed it convenient to continue adoration at night, as well as during the day."
In September of 1997, a group of parishioners along with their pastor felt a need for Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration in their parish, St Mary’s in Barnegat. Originally held in a small space behind the altar of the church, it was moved in July to the Adoration chapel which was built by three men in the parish. Adoration continues there to this day.
This weekend we are celebrating Perpetual Adoration at St Mary’s. There will be representatives with information and sign-up sheets in the vestibule after all masses and it is open house at the chapel after the 10:00am and 12:00noon Masses. We invite you to visit. Congratulations on 26 years, St Mary’s! May our Adoration continue for many more.

In the vestibule of St. Mary’s Church above the votive candle rack, a parishioner has donated a statue of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque that will be placed there in memory of a loved one. Since St. Margaret had a devotion to the Sacred Heart, we would like to have a plaque of the Sacred Heart placed on the wall next to the statue. It will be similar to the ones in the sanctuary on either side of the Tabernacle. If anyone is interested in donating that image, please contact the rectory office.

Hospitality Ministry – Volunteers Needed
We would like to see if there is enough interest in re-starting a hospitality ministry in our parish. The main purpose of the ministry would be to periodically foster fellowship after selected Masses. The ministry would be responsible for providing coffee/tea/juice and light refreshments after selected morning Masses approximately once a month. Volunteers will be trained in how to set up tables/chairs, brew the coffee, obtain/order the food, set out the refreshments, help serve seniors, and clean up. The parish will pick up the expense. The number of volunteers will determine how many and what Masses can be covered. Please contact the Rectory if you are interested in being a part of this ministry. Thank you.
